2020 here we come!

Getting the #84 B-Spec Fiesta ready for the season!

In my last post I talked about all of the new tracks we are going to this year. All of that starts at the Capaldi Racing shop in Chesterfield. Alex Perales and team are going over the Fiesta to get it ready for the first races of the season at VIR. We look at the entire suspension each fall and inspect the shocks, bolts, hubs, control arms, steering arms, you name it.

As we learned in 2018, some things you don’t mess with. Hubs for one! We replace the hubs on the car whether they need it or not. We call it end of life-ing of the part. Because, as we learned at Gingerman and Road America in 2018, hub failures are not fun at all!

This year, because the car is going to be away from the shop between a few races, we’re taking extra care to look over everything that we think might need changing. As we do after every race weekend, we change the oil in the car – our Mobil 1 Racing Oil could go all season long, but we like having fresh oil each session, just makes us feel better knowing it’s fresh.

Brake fluid is another item that gets changed out each season – but given the number of times we bleed the brakes throughout a race weekend, we change the fluid several times a season that way too.

We’ve got our new Hawk Performance Brake Pads and our Cryogenically Treated Frozen Rotors on the car. A few more things to do and we’ll be ready!

As you can tell, I’m getting antsy to get back in the car. We have had a super warm winter up here in Michigan and it has felt like March since November. I keep waiting on April to show up early and surprise us.

Next up is finding photographers and videographers at VIR, Pitt Watkins Glen and the other places we are headed. We love high quality imagery and we appreciate all the hard work that goes into setting up and getting those greats shots and video. Thanks makes me think. Next time, we’ll profile some photographers and videographers we love and showcase some of their work.
